Are closed bridles required when driving at a horse show?

Lena --Are blinders a requirement when driving at a horse show? Margie

Hi, Margie -- To answer your question I will refer to the MWFHC Show Handbook that we follow for our annual horse show. As ALL shows are different and follow different rules, I can only answer what the MWFHC Handbook does or does not allow.

The answer to your question is listed on Page 2 in our Show Handbook in "Recommendations -- Tack". "Open bridles are permitted" both in Draft and in Driving.

"Open" bridles are driving bridles with no blinders and "closed" bridles are ones with blinders (winkers, blinkers, etc.), just in case someone does not know.

Again, this is for the MWFHC's Fjord Breed Show. For other shows, you will have to check their rules. --Lena
